Vol. 230 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Bridge.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the erection of a bridge over the River Moy at Cloonacanna, Swinford, County Mayo; and when construction will commence.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of 20th July last on the subject. I understand that Mayo County Council have not yet completed consideration of the tenders received by them for the execution of the work. No avoidable delay will be incurred by my Department in examining the council's proposals in the matter or in communicating a decision thereon to the council, when they have been received.

Is it not the true position that the money is not available to go ahead with the work? The Minister refers to a reply on 20th July, a similar type of reply to the one I have got today.

Mayo County Council have not completed consideration of the tenders received by them.

Why not avail of the Adjournment to get further information?
