Vol. 230 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Development Plans.

50.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of (a) county councils, (b) county borough councils and (c) other local authorities who were under an obligation to make a development plan under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963; if he will give details of the number of such councils under each heading which made such a development plan within the allowed period; and the number which did not make a plan within this period.

The number of planning authorities obliged to make development plans for their areas before 1st October, 1967, was 87, comprising 27 county councils, four county borough corporations and 56 borough corporations and urban district councils. Development plans were made before 1st October, 1967, by 13 county councils, one county borough corporation and 31 borough corporations and urban district councils. Forty-two planning authorities had not made plans before that date.
