Vol. 230 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878.

52.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the disappointment of Dublin Corporation that he has not yet acceded to their request to introduce legislation to increase the limits of £50 and £100 mentioned in section 201 of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878 to £500 and £1,000 respectively; if he is agreeable to sponsor such amending legislation; and, if so, when.

The corporation's suggestion has been noted for consideration in connection with a review of the procedure in relation to contracts. Since the suggestion was made, however, the enactment of the Housing Act, 1966, has relieved the corporation of the need to comply with provisions of section 201 of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878, in respect of its operations as housing authority.
