Vol. 230 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valuation Appeals.

69.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will take steps to repeal the relevant sections of the Valuation Ireland Act, 1852-1874 and the Local Government Ireland Act, 1898 and the Acts amending and extending the same, so as to provide that in the case of an appeal against a valuation to the Circuit Court no recognizance is required and that in lieu thereof the same sum may be lodged in court pending the determination of the appeal as one of the conditions precedent to the taking of such an appeal.

I would not be prepared to introduce special legislation to give effect to the alternative procedure suggested by the Deputy. I shall, however, bear his suggestion in mind for consideration if legislation to amend the Valuation Acts is required at any time in the future.
