asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will take steps to increase children's allowances.

The introduction of legislation for the purpose of increasing the rates of children's allowances is not contemplated at present.

109.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will introduce legislation whereby children's allowances will be paid in respect of all schoolgoing children up to the date of their leaving school; and if he will consider this matter in the light of the large number of children attending school and not coming within the scope of children's allowance.

The introduction of legislation to permit children's allowance to be paid in respect of school going children up to the date of their leaving school is not at present contemplated.
