(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Health the number of beds per 1,000 of the population for acute hospital admissions, excluding geriatric and psychiatric beds.

The number of acute hospital beds, excluding geriatric and psychiatric beds, is 5.9 per 1,000 of the population. Also excluded are beds used for the treatment of tuberculosis, Army and Garda hospitals, maternity, nursing and convalescent homes, homes for chronic sick and incurable patients and special homes for children.
