Vol. 231 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Glanworth (Cork) Garda Service.

91.

asked the Minister for Justice if, having regard to recent incidents in Glanworth, County Cork, which had a court sequel and to the fact that the village is over six miles from the nearest Garda station, he will consider basing a Garda permanently there.

I do not consider that a garda is required to be stationed in Glanworth, as the locality is peaceful and is effectively supervised from surrounding stations.

I am informed by the Commissioner that the recent incident referred to was of an isolated nature.
