Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Teaching of History.

109.

asked the Minister for Education if he is reconsidering the present teaching of history in all schools; and if steps will be taken to ensure that an impartial and true interpretation of the history of this country and of England will be given.

The teaching of all school subjects receives continuous attention in my Department. This applies to both syllabus content and teaching methods. In the case of history in particular every effort is made to ensure a balanced and objective treatment of the courses.
