asked the Minister for Education the number of national schools in each county which have been listed as (a) in need of repair or (b) in need of replacement.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to give the information requested in the form of a tabular statement to be included in the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

* There are other schools in each county where minor schemes of improvements, particularly in regard to heating and sanitation are due to be carried out. A recent arrangement, whereby Managers are authorised to undertake such improvements without prior reference to the Department, will allow of their being carried out more rapidly than heretofore.
