18.

andMr. Cluskey asked the Minister for Local Government the amount of money spent on land acquisition for building purposes by Dublin Corporation during the last financial year.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 16, 17 and 18 together.

I am informed by Dublin Corporation that £914,000 was spent by them on land acquisition for housing during 1966-67. Capital allocations totalling £8.855 million have been made to Dublin Corporation for house building and for land acquisition and development purposes so far in the current financial year. They have also been told that further allocations will be considered in respect of any further additional schemes which may be sanctioned and in respect of which expenditure may arise during 1967-68. The Dublin City and County Manager was informed some time ago of the agreement in principle of the Minister for Finance with his proposals for a special land acquisition and development programme which may involve capital expenditure of the order of £3 million over a three year period, commencing with 1967-68.
