Vol. 232 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foot and Mouth Disease Precautions.

11.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if his Department will recoup to Dublin Corporation the expenditure of almost £5,000 which the corporation will incur to 31st March next on implementing precautions against foot and mouth disease at the markets and abattoir; and, if so, when.

There is a standing arrangement under which my Department recoups Dublin Corporation half the expenditure incurred by them on precautionary measures at the Cattle Market and Municipal Abattoir against the introduction of serious animal diseases such as foot and mouth disease.

Recoupment on this basis will be made to the corporation on receipt from them of vouched accounts in respect of the expenditure arising from the precautions being taken by them in the present situation.
