Vol. 232 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Social Welfare Benefits.

39.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will now take steps to have old age pensions and children's allowances either sent through the post or negotiable at places other than post offices to avoid, particularly in urban centres, the long queues of recipients which are a feature of present arrangements.

I am satisfied that the present method of payment of old age pensions and children's allowances at post offices is efficient and I do not contemplate introducing any change in it.

(Interruptions.)
