Vol. 233 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Retired Postmen.

5.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of postmen who retired in each of the last five years whose service throughout their working life was regarded as temporary, stating the number of years service in each case.

No temporary postman retired in the years 1963 to 1967 whose service throughout his whole working life was regarded as temporary.

The Deputy may have in mind auxiliary and unestablished postmen, who are quasi-permanent employees. The number of these who retired in the last five years is 364. It was not practicable in the time available to compile information as to the number of years service in the case of those quasi-permanent employees, but this is being done and the results will be communicated to the Deputy as soon as they are complete.
