Vol. 233 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballsbridge (Dublin) Post Office.

16.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is proposed to erect a new post office in the Ballsbridge district, Dublin.

The question of providing new or additional post office accommodation for the Ballsbridge district is under examination at present.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say how long it has been under examination?

For some time. There is the difficulty of obtaining a suitable site. This is a developing area and it is pretty difficult to locate the ideal site. The present siting of the office is pretty central and the ideal would be to be in a position to expand the existing offices, which is not possible at present, but it is certainly something which is engaging our attention and every effort is being made to secure this.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary not agree that the longer the Department wait in regard to this matter, the more difficult it will be to obtain any type of accommodation there?

I am conveying that it is not easy.

The position is not going to improve and I suggest that the number of years that have been wasted could very usefully have been used to get accommodation.

I cannot accept that years have been wasted.

You know that it is years.
