24.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the need for improvements to the pier at Barna, County Galway, to enable fishing boats to use the pier at low tides; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in this matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together.

Cleggan harbour and the pier at Barna, County Galway, are among the places being examined by the survey team which I set up to make an up-to-date appraisal of landing facilities required on the coasts of Counties Galway and Mayo in the interests of the sea fishing industry. Until I receive and consider the team's report, I cannot say what improvements, if any, may be approved for these centres.
