Vol. 233 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the up-to-date position regarding the Termon group water scheme, County Donegal.

It is understood that the group have not yet finally decided whether to proceed with the original scheme which has been approved or to undertake an enlarged scheme to cater for additional houses. A revised design to be prepared by the group's engineer would be required for the latter scheme.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government the up-to-date position regarding the Malin group water scheme, County Donegal.

This scheme has been completed and all State grants have been paid. I understand that the participants are seeking further financial assistance from Donegal County Council.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in regard to the sanction of a grant for the Beaufort group water scheme, Killarney, which was completed about 12 months ago.

This scheme is not fully completed. Two of the three grants involved are being paid, and the remaining grant will be paid when the outstanding work has been carried out.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government when a water supply scheme will be carried out in Calry, County Sligo; if supply will be by means of a regional or a group scheme; and from what source supply will be drawn.

There are two proposals for the provision of piped water in the Calry area. A proposal by the Sligo County Council for a regional scheme to serve the Calry/Kiltycahill area is at the preliminary planning stage. A source for this scheme has not yet been definitely decided on. A group scheme has also been mooted and again a final decision has not yet been taken as to the source.

I cannot say when a water supply is likely to be provided.

Question No. 46 postponed.
