Vol. 233 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allotment of Land.

54.

asked the Minister for Lands how many holdings of land will be allotted to migrants in the year 1968; and where these holdings are located.

It is not possible at this stage to furnish the precise information requested. The Deputy will appreciate that at this time —being the peak of the allotment season—there are constant negotiations and the situation changes from day to day. Just now it is not possible to be definite about the final outcome.

I may add that since 1st April last 27 holdings have been allotted to migrants and I am hopeful that the aggregate for the entire year will be about 86; these would be mainly in the midland and eastern counties.

Would the Minister state if the number of allocations has fallen or increased?

It depends on which basic year you take. Speaking from recollection, the number generally runs from 80 to 110.
