Vol. 233 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pig Progeny Testing.

50.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of applications received in response to his Department's advertisement for posts relating to pig progeny testing; and the qualifications for appointment to such posts.

I take it that the question refers to the vacancies for progeny station assistants advertised by the Civil Service Commission on 14 November, 1967. There were 37 applicants. Candidates were required to:

(1) have a good general education; (2) have completed satisfactorily at least one complete session at a recognised agricultural college; (3) have satisfactory experience of pig husbandry; (4) otherwise possess the requisite knowledge and ability and be suitable to enter on the discharge of the duties of the position.
