Vol. 233 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transfer of Department.

11.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will consider the removal of his Department headquarters to Fermoy, County Cork.

The Government's policy in regard to decentralisation was announced by the Taoiseach on 16th November, 1967, and I have nothing to add to that statement at this stage.

Would the Minister not consider that the proper place for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is in the midst of agricultural activity such as there is in Munster?

It would be difficult to find anywhere that would not be in the midst of agricultural activity.
