Vol. 233 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Leitrim Dispensary Doctor.

26.

asked the Minister for Health when a resident doctor will take up duty in Manorhamilton, County Leitrim; if the appointment of such a doctor has yet been sanctioned by his Department; and if an appointment has been made.

My Department have approved of the appointment of a permanent part-time Medical Officer to Our Lady's Hospital, Manorhamilton. The appointment to this post will be made by Leitrim County Council on the recommendation of the Local Appointments Commission. My Department are in consultation with the Commission about the terms of appointment.

Can the Minister give any idea when the appointment will be made? This has been going on for 12 months now since the Minister was down in Leitrim.

Draft qualifications are being settled at the moment with the Local Appointments Commission and when these are settled, and the salary determined, the necessary documents will be sent to the Local Appointments Commission—about three weeks, I suppose.
