asked the Minister for Health if any steps have already been taken to implement the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry on Mental Illness; and what steps will be taken in the near future by his Department to implement this Commission's findings.

Measures to improve services for the mentally ill are continually being pressed ahead. The report of the Commission of Inquiry on Mental Illness is being examined in consultation with various bodies and interests involved. Steps have been taken to implement many of the recommendations of the Commission—indeed several of these recommendations are in line with the policy which has been pursued for some years past.
