asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of new industries established at Shannon during 1967; and the total employment content of these industries.

I am informed by the Shannon Free Airport Development Company that 12 new companies, including ten manufacturing concerns, were established at Shannon during 1967. At 29th February, 1968, the number of persons employed by these companies was 236. It is expected that the number employed when full production is reached will be in the region of 950.

16.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will indicate the likely prospects of establishing further industries at Shannon during 1968.

I am informed by the Shannon Free Airport Development Company that they are examining proposals from six firms, including four manufacturing concerns, to establish at Shannon. Of these, plans for the establishment of three new manufacturing projects have almost reached completion. The remaining three concerns are also likely to establish at Shannon within 1968.

In addition a number of promising inquiries are being processed by the company and these are likely to lead to further proposals.

Would the Minister consider the establishment there of an industry based on Deputy Dillon's rabbit colony?
