Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sunday Greyhound Racing.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether he will consider the introduction of amending legislation to permit the promotion of greyhound racing on Sundays in the interest of the Irish greyhound industry, as at the present time this industry is faced with the greatest competition at home and abroad.

Under the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958, greyhound racing may not be held on Christmas Day, Good Friday or any Sunday and I do not at present contemplate an amendment of the legislation in that respect.
