Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Road Flooding.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the repeated flooding on the main road near Ballyheigue, County Kerry over the past few years; and that people moving to and from that district have to make a detour of several miles; and, if so, if he will now consider making a special grant available to raise the road level in order to remove permanently the cause of the flooding there.

As intimated to the Deputy in reply to a previous question on 17th February, 1965, on the subject, it would be primarily a matter for Kerry County Council as road authority to undertake any works on the road referred to. I have received no proposals from the council in the matter. There are no funds at my disposal from which I could make a special grant for such works.
