Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Longford Derelict Site.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in sanctioning Longford County Council request for permission to acquire a small derelict site at Lanesboro, which forms part of a proposed amenity park there.

The proposal in this case was for the compulsory acquisition of a site under the Derelict Sites Act, 1961. The matter could not be disposed of immediately because an objection to acquisition was submitted by a person affected, a question of title had to be investigated and the legality of proceeding under the Derelict Sites Act, 1961, examined. Consideration of these aspects has now been completed and a decision will be conveyed to the county council very shortly.
