Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Employment Exchange.

47.

asked the Minister for Labour if he is aware that there is dissatisfaction in Cork city about the inadequate accommodation available for those signing on at the Cork employment exchange; and that the shortage in accommodation has resulted for some weeks past in long queues having to wait for a considerable period; and if he will take steps to rectify the situation.

I am not so aware. If, however, the Deputy furnishes particulars of any case of alleged excessive delay I shall investigate it.

Is the Minister aware complaints were made to the employment exchange in Cork and were acknowledged by the staff there? Is he aware that for some weeks past there have been queues outside the exchange for the reason mentioned in the question? If the Minister had made any inquiries, he would have been told that.

I made inquiries and I have told the Deputy what I was told.

The Minister was misinformed. I will give him specific instances.
