Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Presentation of Firm's Accounts.

53.

asked the Minister for Finance if audited accounts of a firm (name supplied) have at any time been presented to his Department; if any other documents relating to the company have been deposited with the Department; and, if so, if he will give details.

It is presumed that the accounts and other documents to which the Deputy refers are such as the Revenue authorities might require for the purposes of taxation. Having regard, however, to secrecy obligations it is not possible, as the Deputy will appreciate, to provide an answer to the Question.

If the Deputy has in mind returns made by the company under the Companies Act, 1963, these returns are available for inspection by the public on payment of the statutory fee of 1/-.

I was wondering whether the Minister is being treated with the same scorn as the Minister for Health was in not replying to him for three months?

If they are treating me with scorn, I am totally unaware of the fact.
