Provision is made in the free post-primary education scheme for grants towards the cost of free books and accessories for necessitous pupils.
This scheme was announced in the House on 30th November, 1966. Details of the scheme were sent to schools in September, 1967, and wide newspaper coverage was given to it.
The scheme is operated through the school headmasters.
