Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Vocational Education Committee.

68.

asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to reconstitute the Limerick Vocational Education Committee.

I propose to reconstitute the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee in due course. It will be necessary to introduce enabling legislation to enable me to do so and I hope to be in a position to do this soon.

Has the Minister any idea when he will be in a position to introduce legislation in this important matter? The position in Limerick is chaotic. A man from the Department is coming down once a month to hold mythical committee meetings and no decisions are being made. In view of its urgency, will the Minister tell us definitely when he will introduce legislation to enable us to deal with this matter?

I understand that technical education is being dealt with excellently. This matter is important but I do not regard it as of paramount importance.

The Minister should be well aware of the position in Limerick——

The Deputy cannot have a discussion on Limerick. He may put a question.

This question has been raised for the sixth time in this House—

Question No. 69.

Will the Minister measure in terms of time what he means by "soon"?

We have a lot of priorities and this matter is in its appropriate place.

Will the Minister, now, pending a by-election, at this late stage tell us——

Question No. 69, by Deputy L'Estrange.
