Vol. 233 No. 12

95.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state for County Galway the total acreage of land acquired by the Land Commission in each of the last five years; the amount allotted in each year; and the number of acres still in possession of the Land Commission.

Final statistics of land settlement activities generally for the financial year just ended are not yet available. In respect of the five years ended 31st March, 1967, the information requested is contained in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

NOTE: As regards the acreage remaining in the possession of the Land Commission, last month represented the peak of the allotment season and until such time as details of the various properties divided have been notified to Headquarters it is not feasible to state precisely the statistical position regarding lands in the possession of the Land Commission. In the circumstances, perhaps the Deputy would repeat this part of the Question in about a month's time when a more realistic assessment of the position should be feasible.
