Vol. 234 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cappawhite (Tipperary) Dispensary Vacancy.

66.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Health if he will consider filling the vacancy at the dispensary at Cappawhite, County Tipperary, on a permanent basis and providing a residence for the doctor appointed there.

Pending implementation of the proposed changes in the dispensary service which will substitute for the present service a service providing maximum choice of doctor, I am considering holding a further competition for permanent district medical officer appointments to certain dispensary districts, including Cappawhite, on conditions which would enable the persons appointed to be absorbed into the new service in due course.

I understand that the health authority have not provided a dispensary residence at Cappawhite. In view of the impending changes in the dispensary services it seems unlikely that one would be provided now.
