Vol. 234 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received from Dublin Corporation a request to introduce legislation to enable the corporation to make a grant to the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; if so, the date upon which he received such a request; and if having regard to the financial difficulties facing this Society he will give urgent attention to the matter.

A copy of a resolution passed by Dublin Corporation in November, 1965, requesting the Minister for Local Government to introduce legislation to enable the corporation to make a grant to the Dogs and Cats Home was received in my Department on 17th November, 1965. The matter was noted for consideration in connection with any future revisions of legislation dealing generally with the powers of local authorities. I do not propose to promote special legislation on the matter.
