The number transferred from St. Patrick's Institution during the period mentioned was ten.
Each transfer was made pursuant to the provisions of section 7 of the Prevention of Crime Act, 1908 which provides that where an inmate of an institution is reported by the Visiting Committee to be incorrigible, or to be exercising a bad influence on the other inmates, his sentence of detention may be commuted by the Minister to a term of imprisonment.
