Vol. 234 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Factory Inspectors.

15.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of (a) male and (b) female factory inspectors at present employed by his Department.

The numbers are 17 and three respectively.

16.

asked the Minister for Labour the total number of female employees employed in factories visited by female factory inspectors of his Department.

The particulars sought by the Deputy are not compiled. The total number of female workers employed in all premises coming within the scope of the Factories Act was 53,488 in 1966.

Does the Minister think the number of female factory inspectors even approaches adequacy in view of the number of female workers employed in factories?

The Minister is endeavouring to recruit more female inspectors.
