Vol. 234 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford House Grant.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which the application for a grant for a new house was received from a person in County Waterford (name supplied); the date on which he was first called upon following receipt of application; the number of subsequent inspections to date; the date on which his Department was notified of completion of the house; the reason for the delay in payment of grant; and why the applicant is not being considered for the higher rate of grant for which he has applied.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows: Date of application, 23rd May, 1967; date of first inspection, 16th June, 1967; number of subsequent inspections, 2; house notified almost completed, 12th February, 1968.

There has been no undue delay in this case. Such delay as occurred was caused by the failure of the applicant to comply with the planning permission granted and the need to have certain defects remedied.

The applicant did not seek the higher rate of grant, and his eligibility in this regard is now being investigated.
