Vol. 234 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Industries.

44.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there are any proposals for the establishment or extension of industries in Clonmel, Tipperary town, Cashel, Carrick-on-Suir, Cahir, Lismore, Tallow, Cappoquin, Fethard, Killenaule, Clogheen, Dundrum, Cappawhite and Villierstown, County Tipperary; and, if so, if he will give details.

I am aware of one proposal for the establishment of an industry in one of the centres mentioned. The proposed location of the project is Fethard. Since industrial proposals must be treated as confidential, I am unable to furnish further details of the proposals.

45.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there are any proposals in his Department for the establishment or extension of industries in Sligo town, Ballisodare, Collooney, Tubbercurry, Ballymote, Manorhamilton, Dromahair and in any other part of the Sligo-Leitrim constituency; and, if so, if he will give details.

I am aware of proposals for the establishment or extension of industries under the Small Industries Programme at each of the following centres: Manorhamilton, Ballinamore, Mohill, Summerhill, Drumshambo, County Leitrim and Mullaghmore, Ballymote, Grange, County Sligo. Since industrial proposals must be treated as confidential, I am unable to furnish further details of the proposals.

Does the Minister think he will soon be able to make a decision as to whether or not there will be an industrial estate in the now obvious place in the west for it, Sligo?

I think this matter will be decided in the fairly near future.

It will not be before time. That is all I will say.

The population will be gone out of Leitrim.

It has been suggested that the House should continue with questions until they are completed. Is that agreed?

Who suggested it?

We are agreeable.

If the House does not agree, the remaining questions——

Carry on: I have no objection. I just wanted to know who suggested it.

Your Parliamentary Secretary has a huge smile.

In fairness to everybody, Deputy Carty and I more or less signalled across.

So that is what you are up to.

It is a new kind of tick-tack.

We will take the rest of the questions tomorrow.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
