asked the Minister for Health whether any financial aid is given towards the cost of hearing aids.

Hearing aids may be provided free of charge by health authorities to persons requiring them who come within any of the following categories:

(a) Children under 6 years of age, in respect of defects discovered at child welfare clinics;

(b) Children attending national schools, in respect of defects discovered at school health examinations; and

(c) Persons in the lower income group.
