Vol. 234 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Drugs Board Post.

50.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state, in relation to the vacancy for a secretary advertised by the National Drugs Advisory Board, the number of applications received; whether an appointment has been made; if so, what was the method of selection; and why the post was not filled as a result of a similar advertisement last October.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 12th December, 1967 to his previous question on the subject. I am informed that the board received 58 applications in response to advertisements published on 30th and 31st December, 1967 and that these applications, together with the 34 which had been received in response to advertisements published on 7th October, 1967, were considered in accordance with the selection procedure outlined in my previous reply.

The board have made an appointment with my approval and the appointee will take up duty shortly.

The selection of a candidate for appointment is a matter for the board and they did not nominate a person for appointment from the original competition held following the advertisements published in October last.
