Vol. 234 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Housing.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of (a) houses and (b) flats which will be completed for Dublin Corporation by 31st December, 1968.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that they expect work to be completed on 699 of their houses and 1,407 of their flats in the current calendar year. These figures exclude any dwellings which may be provided by way of "package deals" with builders. No estimate of possible completions under this head is available as yet.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of dwellings provided in the past two years in Dublin city and county by (a) Dublin Corporation, (b) the National Building Agency, (c) private builders and (d) any other bodies.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of local authority and private houses provided in Dublin in each of the last three financial years.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 13 and 14 together.

The numbers of dwellings provided in Dublin city and county, including the borough of Dún Laoghaire, in the last three years were as follows:—

1965-66: 4,955, comprising 3,432 non-local authority, 1,141 provided by Dublin Corporation, 240 provided by Dublin County Council and 142 provided by Dún Laoghaire Corporation;

1966-67: 4,599, comprising 2,752 non-local authority, 1,651 provided by Dublin Corporation, and 196 provided by Dublin County Council; and

1967-68: 5,502, comprising 3,222 non-local authority, 1,929 provided by Dublin Corporation, 325 provided by Dublin County Council, and 26 provided by Dún Laoghaire Corporation.

Dwellings at Ballymun, provided by the National Building Agency Ltd. on behalf of Dublin Corporation, are included in the figures for Dublin Corporation for 1966-67 and 1967-68.
