Vol. 234 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Driving Test Centre.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will establish a driving test centre at Dungloe, County Donegal to facilitate applicants for driving licences, particularly licences to drive tractors, who have to travel with their vehicles distances of up to 35 miles to Letterkenny.

I appreciate that there would be considerable hardship on the driver of a slow-moving vehicle such as an agricultural tractor or a moped if he had to bring his machine from the Dungloe area to Letterkenny in order to do his driving test at the regular test centre there. Accordingly, arrangements are in operation whereby such drivers may do their tests in Dungloe. Because of the limited number of persons involved, the establishment of an office in Dungloe would not be justified.

I am much obliged to the Minister.
