asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state for each local authority the backlog of outstanding applications under the rural improvement schemes transferred to it from the Special Employment Schemes Office for examination and sanction, on the termination of that Office and the introduction of local improvements schemes.

The number of the outstanding rural improvements scheme application forms which have been sent to the various local authorities for consideration under the Local Improvements Scheme is in the form of a tabular statement, which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report. It is the local authority who will decide on the schemes which will be sanctioned.
