Vol. 234 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Condition of County Dublin Green.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the grave public dissatisfaction caused by the neglected condition of Muckross Green which has been for many years the subject of complaint by residents and of motions by members of Dublin County Council; and if he will take all possible steps to have these complaints attended to speedily by the local authority.

I am informed by Dublin County Council that they are negotiating with the owner of the property referred to by the Deputy with a view to its acquisition.

Is the Minister not as aware as I am that these negotiations are in train for a considerable time? Will he take whatever steps are open to him to bring this most unsatisfactory condition, which has lasted for years, to a conclusion in the interest of the residents in this area who are long suffering?

I am aware of the position. I think it would be safe to say that it is largely because of the interest I took in it that these negotiations are in progress.

You are taking credit for it?
