Vol. 234 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ennis Housing.

39.

(Clare) asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when approval will issue from his Department to the Ennis Urban District Council in respect of documents submitted, which are regarded as urgent by that council, and on which action is long overdue by his Department, in regard to (a) the erection of 132 dwellings at Turnpike Road, Ennis, the contract for which is about to be signed, (b) the development by the council of 67 sites for private houses at Gallows Hill, Ennis, (c) the erection of 40 houses by the National Building Agency at New Road, Ennis, (d) the erection of 28 houses by a contractor at Ard na Gréine, Ennis, on which work has commenced, (e) the development by Clare County Council of 160 sites for private building and (f) the erection of 37 private houses at Sandfield, Ennis.

The approval of my Department is not awaited to documents for any of these schemes. Scheme (a) has been fully approved for some time and work is in progress. Technical approval to the documents for scheme (b) issued a week ago and the loan application is under consideration. There are no proposals before my Department in regard to scheme (c). Scheme (d) is a private scheme for which grants have been allocated and on which work is in progress. No documents have been submitted to my Department in respect of scheme (e). No grant applications have been received in respect of scheme (f).
