Vol. 234 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cootehill-Dublin Trunk Services.

5.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he has any proposals to improve the trunk services out of Cootehill to Dublin and the surrounding areas; and whether he is aware that there are considerable delays in booking calls at certain times of the day.

I am aware that delay has been arising on telephone calls from Cootehill. Additional circuits have been installed within the last few days and the position has very much improved.

A scheme designed to provide adequate circuits to meet the needs of Cootehill for several years to come has been approved. The circuits will be available next year.

Is the Minister conscious of the deplorable facilities available in the adjoining towns of Ballybay, Clones and Monaghan? It is virtually impossible to get telephone connection short of half an hour.

There are also improvements to take place there.

Not before time.

If the Deputy asks me a question about it, I will give him the details.

There is a question down. The Minister will get an opportunity next week.
