Vol. 235 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Transport.

10.

asked the Minister for Education if any arrangements have yet been made for the transport of children from Dawstown, Blarney and other outlying districts to Blarney national school, County Cork; and, if not, when such arrangements will be made.

The school transport officer of Córas Iompair Éireann has informed my Department that they have experienced difficulty in supplying transport facilities for some of the children concerned as a minibus was not available in the area. However, they are now seeking to make alternative arrangements and hope to have transport facilities available for these children in the near future.

11.

asked the Minister for Education if any improvements have been made by CIE in transport arrangements for children from Carrigaloe and surrounding districts to Rushbrooke and Cobh schools, County Cork.

No request has been made to my Department to date for the improvement of the transport service in question.

All the children whose eligibility for transport has been established are, in fact, being carried in the transport service. In a number of other cases where representations have been made claiming that the children concerned are also eligible, the necessary investigations are being carried out.
