Vol. 235 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Santry (Dublin) Kiosks.

3.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the need for the provision of telephone kiosks in the Santry area, Dublin; and what steps he is taking in this matter.

The provision of additional telephone kiosks in the Santry area is not warranted at present.

The Minister must be aware that this is a very built up area. Surely the need is obvious for a kiosk there? There could be no possible question of its economic viability.

I have examined the position. There are already six kiosks in the Santry area, two of them being on the Swords Road and two on Shanliss Road——

There is none in the village.

None of these is half a mile from the post office. I will keep this under review, and if building there continues, the matter will be reconsidered.

There is need for a kiosk in the old village of Santry.

Perhaps the Minister is not aware that a county council scheme of houses is being erected at the back of the old village and that there is no kiosk in the neighbourhood.
