Vol. 235 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Public Lighting.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the continuing delay in improving public lighting on Cromwellsforth Road, Walkinstown, County Dublin; and when the lighting there will be brought up to the standard provided by Dublin Corporation on the adjoining roads, Walkinstown Avenue and Kimmage Road West.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 14th March, 1967, in which I reminded the Deputy that Dublin County Council are the authority responsible for the public lighting of this road. I understand in fact that they hope to be in a position to make a start on the work of improving the lighting thereon within the next few months.

Could the Minister inform us whether Dublin County Council and the ESB have settled their differences on the costings of this and other electrical works?

They expect to start on the work in the next few months.

Can the Minister answer me whether they have settled their differences?

That is a separate question.

The Minister in reply to me in an earlier answer, if my memory serves me correctly, told me that there is a dispute between the ESB and Dublin County Council regarding the cost of providing alternative lanterns.

The council has now developed its own organisation for carrying out this work and their estimate of the cost compares favourably with the price quoted by the ESB.
