Vol. 235 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Transport.

37.

asked the Minister for Education if he will arrange that a school bus will make Turnapin Cottages, County Dublin, a point of collection for children who will be exposed to grave traffic dangers if compelled to make their own way to school.

Children from Turnapin Cottages are provided with free passes for travelling on the scheduled bus services to and from Swords national schools. I have had no complaints about these arrangements but in view of the Deputy's question I am having inquiries made as to whether they are satisfactory.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if the children from the Shanaclume, Phillipstown, Glassdrum, Highpark and Greenfields areas attending Cappawhite national school, County Tipperary, will be accommodated on the bus which is carrying five pupils, formerly from Carnahalla national school, and which at present passes these children and has plenty of accommodation for them.

None of the children in question is eligible for free transport. There will be no objection, however, to their travelling on the bus as fare-paying passengers so long as space is available on the vehicle operating for the children of the Carnahalla school district.
