Vol. 235 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cul-de-Sac Roads.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider making such grants to urban councils for the improvement of cul-de-sac roads within their areas as are made to county councils for similar work.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 22 on 27th March, 1968. There are no funds at my disposal from which grants can be given to urban district councils for the improvement or maintenance of cul-de-sac or other non-public roads.

As indicated in my earlier reply county councils may in certain circumstances carry out a "local improvement scheme" in an urban district within the county.
