Vol. 235 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Wexford River.

64.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) when it is proposed to start the drainage of the Owenavorragh river, County Wexford, (b) the number of local men it is proposed to employ, (c) the approximate duration of the work and (d) the amount of land which will be affected by the drainage.

Work on this scheme will start within the next week. About 60 men, most of them recruited locally, will be employed on the work at its peak. The scheme will take about 2½ years to complete and will benefit about 2,330 acres of land.

Could the Minister say who is doing this job? Is it being done by a contractor?

I have not got that information.

Maybe the Parliamentary Secretary would find out and let me know?
